LOCAL AUTHORITIES (EDUCATION)
There are 32 Local Authorities (LAs) in Scotland, each containing an Education Authority (EA). According to the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, each LA must produce a Race Equality Scheme (RES), while the EAs write an education specific Race Equality Policy (REP). Some council education authorities have clear policies. For others, these Race Equality Policies are sometimes embedded in the Authority’s Race Equality Scheme.
