Gender Equality:A Toolkit for Education Staff (2007)
Under the Equality Act (2006) and the Gender Equality Duty which arises from it, schools are required to show that they are eliminating unlawful discrimination and harassment and promoting equality between women and men. This toolkit, the first of it’s kind in the UK has been produced by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) in Scotland together with the Scottish Government to help education staff to reflect on and develop that process throughout all aspects of their work in schools.
The toolkit is packed with practical ideas and links to excellent websites providing useful information for embedding gender equality in the whole school.
CERES staff and associates Laura Mitchell and Judith Mackinlay wrote the Toolkit. CERES Director who was then Equal Opportunities Commissioner for Scotland proposed the development of such a Toolkit to the Scottish Government.
