The department can provide tailored courses in teacher education for groups
with specific requirements. Specialist areas within existing programmes can
be tailored to provide a course according to the specific requirements of
the country. Examples of specialist courses are below.

This is a four-year degree course to teach in the Primary Schools Sector.

Graduate Diploma in Primary Education |
This is a one-year postgraduate diploma programme to teach in the Primary
Schools Sector.

Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education |
This is a one-year postgraduate diploma programme to teach specialist subjects
in the Secondary Schools Sector.
| BEd
(Honours) Design & Technology |
This four-year programme enables students to teach design and technology
in secondary schools.

English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) |
The department runs courses in TESOL.

Pre-service courses:
Malaysia-UK twinning programme leading to BEd (TESOL)
This programme involved study in both Malaysia and the UK. There were four
years of study including school experience in each academic year, in consortium
with MPIK College in Kuala Lumpur and four other UK Institutions. Course
content included language improvement, pedagogy and methodology as well
as an extended study on a topic of the student's choice.
BEd (TESOL) for MARA students
This programme can be specially adapted to suit specific cohorts of students
who would like to undertake a four- year degree in TESOL.

This course is currently running and is part of the Egyptian Teachers Programme.
Intensive English Language for Primary School Teachers (Italy)
This programme involved language development, pedagogy and methodology for
Italian primary school teachers.
Intensive English Language for Primary School Teachers (Austria)
This programme involved language development, pedagogy and methodology for
Austrian primary school teachers.
Intensive English Language for Methodology for Teachers (Switzerland)
(This programme involved language development, pedagogy and methodology for
Swiss teachers (primary and secondary).
