About  Educational Studies


Educational Studies is a large and wide ranging department hosting several national centres. Staff are involved in teaching, research and consultancy across a wide range of educational issues.

The department has a strong research culture and a good record in attracting research funding. Many colleagues are internationally known for their research and publications.

Programmes based in the department include the School’s highly regarded BEd Primary Education and PGDE (Primary). At Postgraduate level we offer a Master of Teaching (MTeach) which has full accreditation from the GTC Scotland as a programme leading to the award of Chartered Teacher. The Department also offers a suite of programmes in Additional Support for Learning.

Members of the department are very active in the wider field of Education both in Scotland and internationally. Many have had significant involvement in both policy and practice development.
