Sub-Section Introduction 5.4.6: Systems Analysis

To examine systems analysis in the different guises it appears in this project. The Sub-section starts with an examination of some of the basic principles of systems analysis.

This Sub-section is the last in the Unit and it has been designed to complete the circle by linking up with Section 5.1. This is done by asking teachers to think about systems analysis as a way of planning holistic approaches to the study of the themes of forest and transport.

Systems analysis may seem too complex to use with pupils in the 7-10 age range. However if systems are kept simple and pupils are provided with the names of elements on separate pieces of paper and arrows which indicate inputs and outputs systems can be assembled with careful questioning by teachers.
