HRH The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, Chancellor of the University of
Edinburgh has presented an award to Dr Sian Bayne at a dinner in the Palace
of Holyroodhouse.
Dr Bayne became a senior lecturer at the Moray House School
of Education in 2005 and has since been responsible for developing an online
Masters programme in E-learning. Her innovative research into the use of
digital technologies in teaching and learning also encompasses work in museums
and galleries. Dr Bayne's other interests include; learning in digital environments
and E-learning, digital pedagogies, online identity, the cultural impact
of the digital on learning and teaching, post-structuralist perspectives on
research.
The Chancellor's Awards were presented in front of some 200 supporters
of the University, including leaders of industry, prominent members of the
financial community, key figures in public bodies and various Edinburgh graduates.
The
awards, now in their fourth year, are presented in recognition of innovation,
relevance, creativity and personal dedication. The awards, crafted in glass,
are the work of Elin Isaksson, Artist in Residence at the Edinburgh College
of Art.
Other University staff honoured were Professor Joanna Wardlaw and
Dr Polly Arnold.
