Congratulations
and welcome to Dr Sue Fletcher-Watson who has received a prestigious Nuffield
Early Career Development Fellowship
Dr Sue Fletcher-Watson is an early career researcher with a background in
cognitive psychology who will be joining Moray House School of Education from
Newcastle University. Her proposed research project will develop a computer-mediated
intervention targeting social attention and awareness in children with autism
spectrum disorders and assess its impact on adaptive and cognitive abilities.
The project is a partnership with Professor Helen McConachie, a clinical and
research psychologist at Newcastle University with extensive experience in
intervention research. The partners will collaborate with a team of information
technology experts, led by Dr Helen Pain at the University of Edinburgh and
with Professor Anne O'Hare, a consultant paediatrician at the University of
Edinburgh, who will support recruitment for the project.
It is hoped that the project will make a significant contribution to translational
research, furthering both understanding of the development of social attention
in autism as well as contributing to clinical practice and education.
