Postgraduate Diploma in Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education

We are now accepting applications for this new pathway, the first of its kind in the sector. Most academic courses have a practical focus and are taught from our Edinburgh base as well as our residential outdoor centre in the Cairngorms National Park and on the Island of Rùm (National Nature Reserve) in the Western Isles of Scotland.
In addition, there is a Professional Development Programme that consists of a 5-week placement plus two separate weeks spent outdoors (one land-based and the other water-based at our residential outdoor centre) integrating the academic study with practical environmental education. Further practical courses are available through the Section's Professional Development Programme. These may be taken as additional options (see below).
The programmes can be followed on both a full-time and part-time basis. Three of the academic courses and the two practical courses are programmed as residential weeks, which are ideal for part-time students who live some distance from Edinburgh.
