  1. Kandemiri, M. (2006) Comparative evaluation of environmental science teaching in primary schools in Scotland and Zimbabwe. (This thesis has resulted in two peer-reviewed independent publications and a number of conference publications. Several more publications are in preparation.)
  2. Takano, T. (2004) Bonding with land: An impact of place-oriented outdoor education programs. (Self-supported. This student turned down a funded PhD studentship at Cambridge to join our section as a full fee paying student). This thesis has resulted in two peer-reviewed independent publications and a number of peer-reviewed conference publications and two keynote addresses. Several more publications are in preparation.
  3. Christie, E. (2004) The contribution of Outward Bound programmes in raising achievement in Scottish schools. (Grant and fees paid by North Lanarkshire Council). This thesis has resulted in one peer-reviewed independent publication and a number of peer-reviewed conference publications. Several more publications are in preparation.
  4. Nicol, R. (2001) Outdoor Education for Sustainable Living? An investigation into the potential of Scottish local authority residential outdoor education centres to deliver programmes relating to sustainable living. (Awarded a Moray House bursary). This thesis resulted in five peer-reviewed independent publications and a number of peer-reviewed conference presentations.
