About Physical Education, Sport & Leisure Studies (PESLS) |
We offer a multi-faceted set of educational
experiences for students interested in physical education, sport science
and management, dance science and outdoor education. Much of our work has
the common thread of application, integration and inter-disciplinary collaboration
between colleagues who are expert in a range of disciplines.
The department
builds on a strong tradition of service from its roots as Dunfermline
College of Physical Education to its present status as the Scottish Centre
for Physical Education, Sport and Leisure Studies. We are the only centre
in Scotland responsible for the training and preparation of Physical Education teachers.
In the Outdoor
Education world, Moray House
has long been a watch word for quality and innovation whilst the department
has an extremely strong contingent of performance sport specialists on
a par with other leading Sports
Science units within the UK. Sport
Management is an increasingly important
growth area in terms of professional employment and career opportunities;
it is a long standing area of expertise in PESLS which provides undergraduate, postgraduate and research
opportunities.
