Project Title: What is it like to be a Chartered Teacher doing action research?

Supervisor:

Professor Morwenna Griffiths

Research topic:

The aim of the research is to understand Chartered Teachers' lived experience of engaging in post-award, non-funded action research. The research will explore Chartered Teachers' beliefs, assumptions, values and experiences etc. of engaging in action research and examine their dynamic, unique and complex contexts. For an in-depth and rich view of what it is like for a Chartered Teacher to engage in action research I will explore teachers' previous and current experiences of doing action research, looking at the nature, purpose and process involved.

Professional experience:

The first five years of my career in education were spent as a primary teacher, working in Fife, Scotland. After teaching for two years in an elementary school in North Carolina, USA, I returned to Scotland to continue teaching and study for an MSc in Education. I have been a lecturer at Moray House since 2004, teaching primarily on BEd Primary, PGDE Primary and MTeach (Chartered Teacher) programmes. My teaching focuses mainly on the use of technology (ICT) in education and teachers' professional development.
