Project Title: Understanding and Encouraging Cycle Commuter Behaviour in a Workplace Setting

Research
topic:
Jenny is a PhD student based in the Physical Education, Sports and Leisure Studies Department at Moray House School of Education. Her research is orientated towards exercise and health psychology and she works interdepartmentally with supervisors from the Outdoor Education Section and the Clinical and Health Psychology Department.
Jenny's thesis title is 'Understanding and Encouraging
Cycle Commuter Behaviour in a Workplace Setting'
and she has adopted a critical realist approach
to her research. She is interested to gain a deeper
and more complex understanding into the psychological
factors that affect cycle commuting behaviour such
as motivations, barriers and coping strategies.
Her research interests lie in health promotion,
wellbeing, personal and social development, active
living, the natural environment and qualitative
methodology.
Professional
experience:
Jenny
holds a national governing body award in snowboarding.
She has previously worked in the French Alps and
has gained extensive experience teaching snowboarding
to adults and children of all abilities. Jenny
has had work experience as a snow sports development
officer in Scotland and has also written sports
science feature articles for a Scottish snow sports
magazine. She has recently been involved with the
organisation of a Youth and Child Studies Network
knowledge exchange conference sponsored by the
ESRC and hosted by The University of Edinburgh.
Additionally she is conducting the impact evaluation
for the event.
