Additional Support for Learning (ASL)

Our suite of Additional Support for Learning programmes is carefully designed to meet the professional needs of teachers and other professionals who are involved in supporting learners with additional support needs. All our programmes have been recently revised and are delivered by staff who are experts and practitioners in their field.

Each of our programmes can be taken as a six-course diploma and can be continued to Masters level. Participants may also choose to select a number of independent courses, as either assessed or non-assessed, for inclusion in their CPD portfolios.

We are pleased to be able to re-introduce a Postgraduate Certificate in Additional Support for Learning: Inclusive and Special Education from session 07/08."... All our programmes have been recently revised and are delivered by staff who are experts and practitioners in their field."

Applicants may be eligible for funding/part-funding from their local education authorities or schools. Tuition fee levels for 2008/09 can be found here. Please note that some courses carry an additional fee.

The normal entry requirements for an Additional Support for Learning programme, are:
- a first degree or equivalent professional qualification
- recent and relevant professional experience
- GTC registration

Where an applicant does not meet these requirements, consideration may be given to other equivalent academic qualifications and/or professional experience. However, please check the individual award for specific entry requirements if applicable.

As the Additional Support for Learning Academic Co-ordinator, I am confident these programmes will enhance your professional life, impact upon your practice and provide you with an enjoyable, social and interesting learning experience.
