Abstract

The overall aims of the Adult Basic Education seminar series were:

To develop and disseminate an evidence-based and theoretically informed understanding of basic education through the interdisciplinary perspective offered by the socio-cultural/social practice theory of basic skills acquisition.
To create a working forum that is a "space for action" by bringing together policy, academic and practitioner perspectives in a way that is difficult to achieve in other contexts.
