Abstract |
The Scottish
Traveller Education Programme (STEP) is a national programme,
core-funded by the Scottish Government's Support for Learning,
Schools Directorate, with a remit to support and advise developments
in inclusive education for Gypsy and Traveller learners
Additional funding awarded to STEP, by the Scottish Government's Equalities Unit,
will support the salary of a Facilitator to project manage a nationally coordinated
e-learning community pilot for mobile and 'educated outwith school' Gypsy and
Traveller learners. This pilot project will contribute towards the Scottish Government's
Race, Religion and Refugee Integration work.
Based at STEP and working in partnership with self-identified education authorities,
the Facilitator will support Scottish education authorities' development and
delivery of this pilot project. Building on existing face-to-face learning and
teaching currently delivered by an education authority's designated teacher(s)*,
learners and teachers will access the e-learning community through a virtual
learning environment (VLE) delivered and hosted by Glow.
*A
designated teacher of Traveller children and young people, usually has a remit
to support Traveller families' and schools' in encouraging access to a relevant
and appropriate curriculum that meets a Traveller child's
learning needs. |
