Theme 5: Sport Science and Human Performance

Reseachers and examples of projects

As the title suggests, this theme represents the work of those working in sports science and human performance. It is located within the department of Physical Education, Sport and Leisure Studies (PESLS). The three main sub-themes for the Sport Science and Human Performance theme are areas to which all current Sports Science staff, and some of the Physical Education staff contribute. The theme connects with other research in the School through its emphasis on relationships between the scientific and pedagogical applications of the research. 'Skill Acquisition', 'Physiological and Psychological Responses and Rehabilitation', and 'Elite Performance' are sub-themes. Each sub-theme encompasses 'human performance' as a goal of healthful living rather than being limited to competitive sports performance.
